Portage Holiness Camp Ladies Auxiliary Report - Aug. 2010 With a humble heart I come with the Annual Report of the Portage Holiness Camp Ladies Auxiliary. I feel so blessed to work with this group of ladies. We have been very active during the year. We had a bake sale in September. We appreciate everyone who helps in this sale. At this time it is our main source of revenue. We are again signed up for a Bake Sale in September. We had our annual Christmas party in December and in January we had a “Winter Blast” party. We had a great time at both of these events. We moved our Ladies Fellowship from the first Saturday of Camp to a date in May, thinking we would not be as rushed. Many families enjoyed this time of fellowship. The Ladies Auxiliary cleaned A, B, C, and D cottages, the camp owned cottages and the Adult dorm and the Boys and Girls dorms. The Greatest Event that happened this year was the storm that blew a tree on the Snack Shack. After the tree was removed from the Snack Shack, we evaluated what should be done. We decided that we would not turn it into the Camp insurance, and instead repair it ourselves. Joe Smith made a material list. We bought the materials, and on Memorial Day, with Joe's help, we repaired the outside of the Snack Shack. The inside had yet to be done, the wiring, the washable white board, the flooring plus many other things. Thanks to Jim and Sue Doolittle, David and Corey Doolittle, these jobs were completed and the Snack Shack was ready for Camp, better than before. There was a question as to who owned the Snack Shack, the Portage Holiness Camp Ladies Auxiliary or Portage Holiness Camp. Bill and I would like to officially donate the Snack Shack to the Portage Holiness Camp Ladies Auxiliary. We are blessed with some wonderfully talented ladies. Sue Doolittle and Rose Waldman are wonderful to work with. We could never accomplish what we do, without these two ladies. I really appreciate them. They make my job easy. Thank you ladies! I personally want to thank the ladies who hosted the different events this year: Sue Doolittle (Snack Shack), Diane Smith and Lynn McCarty (Ladies Fellowship), Winnie Doolittle and LaVon Luidhardt (Dessert Night), Elnora Koos and Hazel Armstrong (Taco Night), Debra Allen (Annual Picnic). Thank you- Thank you- Thank you! IN HIS NAME, Marlyn Stukey
Spring 2010 Update Greetings to the Portage Family, from the Ladies Auxiliary, by Marlyn Stukey The Ladies Auxiliary wants to thank everyone for all their prayers and help during the year. I am so thankful for the commitment of our ladies in the Ladies Auxiliary, I thank the Lord for them. Would you like to join us? We have been very active during the fall of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. On October 10, we had a bake sale at the Apple Butter Fest in Van Buren, Ohio. For our first year there, we did a great job. We made $626. In six hours! Thank you Lord! I want to thank everyone who helped bake for the sale regardless how much or how little. Everything was greatly appreciated. On December 4th we held our annual Christmas party. After the meal, we had a grab bag gift exchange. We ended up at the table again with dessert and conversation. We had so much fun, we decided to have a "Winter Blast" party at the campgrounds. On January 30th we had our first "Winter Blast" party at the house on the campgrounds. We met for lunch after which we played games and had great conversation. We laughed so much! We had a wonderful time. On Saturday, May 22, 2010, we will be having our Ladies Fellowship in the dining hall at 1:00pm. This is a change from previous years when we had the fellowship during camp. There are at least three reasons for the change. 1.) It interfered with dinner preparation. 2.) It was so close to the dinner hour, no one was ready for dinner at five. 3.) We were not able to have a program of any length. All ladies who read this are invited to come. Bring a friend. On August 4th after the sing, the Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a dessert night in the dining hall. Come and enjoy the fellowship. On Sunday, August 8 is Taco Night, after the evening service. The dining hall will not provide a meal that evening. Everyone is welcome to attend Taco Night. On Monday is the picnic at the shelter house. This is also Missionary Night. Come meet the Shaferlys and enjoy one another's cooking. Fellowship and stay for the Missionary Service. Also, the youth director has mentioned that the youth need good, usable softball gloves. If you have any and would like to donate them to the Youth Camp at Portage, bring them to camp with you. They would be greatly appreciated. I thank the Lord for all of His blessings. HOPE TO SEE YOU AT PORTAGE CAMP! Marlyn Stukey
From the Auxiliary President’s PC Greetings from Portage Holiness Camp. It is a great honor and very humbling to be President of the Ladies Auxiliary. My Vice President, Sue Doolittle and my Secretary/Treasurer, Rose Waldman are just wonderful to work with. I appreciate them so much. Last year we were able to accomplish so many things. This year we have several goals to work on. The Ladies Auxiliary is made up of a wonderful group of ladies. These ladies are dedicated to make the camp grounds as family friendly as possible. We have a vision to see many families enjoying the camp meeting experience and seeing souls won to Christ. You might be saying, "How can I help?" There are several ways: 1. Pray- Pray- Pray for the Ladies Auxiliary and the Camp. 2. Volunteer to help us with the projects listed below. 3. Help out with the fundraisers. (Bake Sale) The source of revenue for all of our projects comes primarily through donations and bake sales. The Lord has blessed our efforts and we have spent our money wisely. We are always in need of volunteers to help us bake. I want to say we really appreciate those who help us bake for the sales. May the Lord richly Bless you. We are looking forward to a great year with many things being accomplished for the Lord. May God Bless you all, Marlyn Stukey, President
